The events of 9/11 resulted in the development of the "National Incident Management System" or "NIMS". The response to Hurricane Katrina illustrates the need for all responders to have a thorough understanding of NIMS and how to apply it to consequence management operations. Homeland Security Presidential Directive #5 (HSPD5) requires all emergency response agencies and jurisdictions at the Federal, State, Local, and Tribal levels to adopt NIMS and to train their personnel to an appropriate level. Failure to do so could result in the loss of Federal assistance funding for preparedness activities.
Willdan Homeland Solutions has developed a "NIMS Basic Course For Response Personnel" that will help you meet your obligations for preparing your personnel to utilize the National Incident Management System as well as the basic Federal training requirements of NIMS.
The NIMS Basic Course is approved by "GRANTS & TRAINING" (formerly ODP), and Federal Homeland Security funds may be used for payment.
The Basic NIMS Course For Response Personnel is designed as an 8-hour course, but can be modified to meet the needs of specific agencies or organizations. Topics presented include NIMS Overview, the Incident Command System, Multiagency Coordination Entities, Resource Management, Incident Action Planning, Mutual Aid, Transfer of Command, Demobilization, Public Information, Preparedness, Technology Integration, and more.
This course meets the requirements of the NIMS IS700, as well as ICS Courses 100 and 200. For those in California, it also meets the basic training requirements of the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).
Basic course costs:
California: $233 per student
Outside California: $197 per student plus travel and per diem for instructors
