Intended primarily for elected officials, emergency planners and managers and executive level employees, this WHS presentation of "Why Plans Fail" is critical to the success of emergency response for both governments and businesses. Recent disasters including hurricanes Katrina and Rita reaffirm the need for not only having an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) but also to know the plan, train with the plan and know how to implement a disaster response.
This four hour eye-opening presentation highlights why even the best plans may fail unless the seven WHS key points for disaster response success are addressed.
From "Not Understanding the Scope of Emergency Management" (lesson #1) to having an "Emergency Response Plan(s) that is overly Complex" (lesson #4) many agencies simply wait until a disaster strikes and hope that the next level of government will come to their rescue. Effective disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery will be enhanced through the lessons learned from "Why Plans Fail."
This presentation can be tailored to include an Introduction to the National Response Plan (IS800) and the Executive SEMS/ICS Course requirements
